There is no block to your happiness. External things are not causative, these are effects, not cause. Take your cue from the only creative principle within you. Your thought is cause, and a new cause produces a new effect. Choose happiness. ~Dr. Joseph Murphy

Reiki

What is Reiki?

“Reiki means ‘universal life force energy’ in Japanese, and is a form of bodywork established by a Japanese doctor who introduced it to Hawaii in the 1930′s. The guiding principal behind it has to do with ‘chi,’ the Original concept of energy.”

-The American Holistic Health Assoc. Complete Guide to Alternative Medicine, William Collinge, Phd/Warner Books, 1996.

Sometimes in America there is a difficulty understanding and/or explaining Reiki to people. There is a word for “life force energy” in Asian medicine, chi and in Indian medicine, Prana. But Westerners are one of the only cultures who do not have a word for this balance that is within the body, the reason carbon-based life forms exist, the reason muscle not only regenerates but gets stronger when we rip it at the gym. The energy there is the energy we, as Reiki practitioners, learn to sense, harness and create balance with for the patient. The Reiki style that Rebecca uses is practiced along the meridians of the body often used in Acupuncture or Acupressure therapies. The typical areas worked on are the head, chest, abdomen, legs and arms and patients always remain fully clothed. We try to bring balance back to an over-stressed, dis-eased or troubled life and body. Reiki usually takes several sessions to the new patient and then only occasional maintenance is needed after initial balancing is achieved. This practice is extremely relaxing and restoring and not invasive whatsoever. Often times clients fall asleep during a session. We bring peace back to the body and mind which makes an ideal environment for perfect functioning of all the systems of the body.
